reaction of emotion when exposed to a series of sensory stimuli...." i was interested in the complex geometry created when sticky materials like natto beans when i peeled off or pulled off two objects. by using modeling technique of maya, i was able to imitate and stimulate the various qualities of the objects. i was to re-imagine the context in which the created desired artifact to the new and magnet ball toy. Used Autodesk Maya as a fundamental form finding, decision making and model making. Made an animation for how the Chinese lantern plants are changing its leafs to veins. Then divided an animation in 8 different sequences and created a series of 3D models used Rhinoceros to figure out the materiality and how this model works physically. AutoCAD were used to finalize 3D models to optimize for lasercutter. The only material used in physical model is mylar. The result of the units multiplying ほおずきと磁石のおもちゃを融合させ、新しいジオメトリーを作り出した。 AutodeskMAYAを使いほおずきが葉から徐々に葉脈になっていく過程をアニメーションで再現。8つのシークエンスに分けてRhonocerosにて3Dモデル及び展開図を作成。 AutoCADにてレーザーカッター用に仕上げた。 Optional Studio In_Formation | Institute of Geology Ferda Kolatan: Visiting Professor geology deals in the most fundamental way with the formation of matter over time. It provides an understanding of how all inanimate shapes emerge, grow, transform, and ultimately break down and dissolve. These complex processes are not autonomous as they depend on external pressures and lack the internal program that distinguishes living organisms. as such, geological structures are an expression of the dynamic forces that mold them and cannot be sufficiently understood without the context of environment, climate, and most critically time. This becomes evident in the historical aspects of Geology such as Paleontology, fossil dating, and plate tectonics. Therefore, rocks are also the record keepers of the evolution of the earth. in this studio, I proposed designs for an Institute of Geology in New York City. the building will serve both as a research facility as well as an exhibition space to engage visitors in geological subjects. I experimented with morphodynamic modeling tools, which emulate time-based formation principles and seek to generate integrated yet authentic design solutions for the program and site. Formal, structural, and organizational patterns emerging from this experimentation will be tested against architectural constraints and for their ability to engage the specific properties of the site in an organic and non-intrusive fashion. The applied design methodologies will be onlinear and multi-hierarchical, allowing for variability and adaptation while maintaining a high degree of resolution and finesse. 地質学とは時間の経過により物質がどのように形作られ、成長し、変形し、最終的に崩壊し分解するまでの過程を研究するものである。これらの複雑なプロセスは外部からの圧力により行われるものであり、有機生物のように遺伝したり自ら進化するものではない。であるからして、動的外力を色濃く反映する地質学的構造は、環境や気候、そして時間という背景無しで十分に理解できるものではない。これらが古生物学やプレートテクトニクスの研究に対して非常に重要な意味を持つとともに、岩というものは地球の進化の過程を記録する役割も果たしている。 このスタジオではニューヨークにある小島に地質学研究所を提案した。この研究所はメインである研究機関の他に来訪者が自由にふれある事ができる博物館を併設するものである。上記に述べた地質学的特徴をデザインに取り込む手段として、時間経過による形成をエミュレートできる形態ダイナミクスと呼ばれるツールを用い、プログラムと敷地に対して最適と思われるフォームの自動生成を試みた。これらの試みから、秩序的構造的そして組織的な従来の建築という枠組みから外れ、敷地の持つ特徴に有機的に溶け込む結果を生んだ。 school was to desgn a housing located in Central Westend, St. Louis, one of the most important gravity point of St. Louis. To satisfy both security + privacy from outside and openness from inside, I used layers of translucent skin system. Skin were assembled with vertical louver units which creates different aperture density in certain area. Patterns are created by 48 units (12 different units in 4 different density) and determined by visibility from both inside and outside. each housing units are laid out to have either private or public garden space to create variety of spaces although housing units are only 3 different types (studio, 1 bedroom, and 2 bedroom) 大学院生としての初めてのプロジェクト。セントルイスでも特に活発でおしゃれなエリア、セントラル・ウエストエンドにあるハウジング。 ハウジングに必要なセキュリティやプライバシーを確保しつつなおかつ周りにもオープンな開かれたハウジングという2つの相反する条件を満たすため、3層におよぶ半透明なリング状のスキンシステムで敷地を覆いました。 外から見れば、時々開けた場所のある森のように見え、住んでいる人にしてみればおとなりさんとの独特な一体感が生まれるような建築を目指しました。 <img
